So you’re planning a trip and taking your dog with you. If you’re not using your own mode of tranport you’ll most likely use a taxi service like Uber or Lyft. Here’s where it may get tricky when traveling with your dog.
What we get when using Uber as a car service is typically a friendly, knowledgable driver and a clean mode of transportation. But, when it comes to bringing our pets with us, one has to wonder if you’re able to share your ride with your dog?
Researching the issue, we’ve noticed that Uber has placed a notice on their site about service dogs, and a special note about non-service animals. Their tip about traveling with non-service animals was to ask your ask your Uber driver as soon as your request is confirmed to ensure that the driver allows pets in their vehicle.
Uber has made long strides in accommodating passengers with special needs and we certainly applaud them. Uber has in-app pop ups and email reminders about the drivers obligation to allow service animals.
Note: All Uber drivers are required by law to transport service dogs.
